The American Heart Association and the Best Life program recommend a healthy diet which includes at least two servings of fish—particularly fatty fish—per week. Fatty fish that are relatively low in mercury and other contaminants include salmon, rainbow trout and sardines. A serving is about 3 ½ ounces cooked or about 3/4 cup of flaked fish.
Why fatty fish? Because they’re a terrific source of healthy omega-3 fats called eicosopentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Those are the fats in this supplement, which can help to:
-
Maintain cardiovascular function.† Consumption of the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil—eicosopentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)— may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, according to supportive, but not conclusive, research.
-
Maintain a healthy cardiovascular system†
-
Maintain healthy triglyceride levels already within normal limits†
-
Contribute to the maintenance of good health and normal growth and development†
The fish oils in this supplement are derived from anchovies, sardines and mackerel, testing very low for contaminants. The softgels are highly concentrated, providing 420 mg EPA and 210 mg DHA per capsule.
